“ ..You work that you may keep pace with the earth and the soul of the earth.
For to be idle is to become a stranger unto the seasons, and to step out of life's procession, that marches in majesty and proud submission towards the infinite…”
- Kahil Gibran in the Prophet
Work, then, has pretty much has been the story since the ‘swift’ start to this BLOG some weeks back but I guess thats ok.
Anyways, whenever I feel hard done by in terms of work hours, I am reminded of an auto-rickshaw driver I once encountered a month or so back in Mumbai. He used to wake up at 4.30 in the morning for Fajr (pre dawn) prayers and then drive the rickshaw till about 11 in the night; everyday. To put things further in perspective, he was 74 years of age.
Makes me feel small, very small, about the numerous times I, and so many others like me, crib about having to work for a little while extra in air conditioned offices, as part of jobs that arguably pay amongst the most in India.
